Heading North

No 1 daughter, Chiara  has bravely lent us her sporty red car to drive up to stay with No 2 daughter on the Wirral, so we set off this morning in fear and trepidation, and some excitement. On the way, we dropped in on my brother and sis-in-law, who gave us a warm welcome, plus pain au chocolat, mince pies and coffee. The original plan had been to spend my birthday with them, when we would also have caught up with our younger niece and her three young children. They live a bit further away than the rest of the family and I’ve only managed to see them once since the children were born – HH hasn’t seen Sonya since her wedding. However, but poor sis-in-law has had really bad flu and was afraid of passing it on, so that plan fell by the wayside.

A bad accident on the southbound carriageway of the M6 had a knock-on effect on the northbound route, and as we crawled along, we heard about the tragic accident in Glasgow. So much sadness in the world, words fail me.
