Hogmanay 2014

Not to be outdone, the last day of the old year arrived in style, heralded by trailing streamers of fire, filling the eastern sky above our heads with a suffusion of crimson and providing a dramatic backdrop for the tracery of bare winter branches on the trees.

His Lordship and I stood outside, coatless and careless of the chill, to watch the tableau unfold above our heads.
And then it was over, the sky lightened and morning had arrived, a morning when a certain fragility of health after an evening of indulgence with my friend o.m.ts and her partner was apparent.

Apart from the wonderful dishes of Indian cuisine, there was a constant supply of champagne and wine. While I was able to operate a modicum of restraint on all fronts, HL did not, but I know better than to enquire after his well being. I suspect he will be feeling a little pale under the gills today and I'm not sure if he will manage to stay the pace until the bells tonight. Only time will tell.

Meanwhile I had promised to take my Oman daughter out for lunch...........she might be the only one eating.
