Another black and white bird in the garden - this time a blackbird with some white in its plumage. It has been a regular visitor over the last few weeks, along with a large number of other blackbirds. Leucism (white plumage) seems to be partly genetically controlled but may result from damage to the feather shafts, according to the BTO Garden Birdwatch book.
Yesterday's Pied Wagtail was back this afternoon. Here's hoping he's a regular visitor.
The snow thawed only slightly today. Looks as though it could be around for a while.
