I remember Edinburgh Christmases in the 1970's being very staid affairs. There was almost a denial of too much frivolity and the civic decorations ran little beyond the Norwegian Spruce on The Mound and everyone gathered around The Tron at The Bells on Hogmanay.
As twilight fell across our capital city we ventured into town to buy some real bargains in the sales. This view was taken on George Street.
Earlier I had a business phone call to the Far East.
Even earlier we enjoyed the company of fellow Blippers Canny Scot and Eleanor. It was lovely to meet up and especially to hear Eleanor's tales of her Edinburgh childhood and of Canny Scot's of Glaswegian apprenticeships that clearly stood him in excellent stead for all life's challenges that have ensued.
This evening, our baby is cooking us a meal.
Last night we had a lovely Scottish family gathering in our house.
On this day, in 1950 my late parents were married in Aberdeen and then drove to Perth, through the snow, to start their honeymoon in a hotel there!
