1 o clock, 2 o clock, 3 o clock, 4....
well i've not done that in a while! went to bed nice and early and woke up after 29 minutes with awful stomach pains. that was it then wide awake from 11pm-4am ish - not good at all! had herbal tea, read book (not the dodgy one), ordered mini lenses for iphone off ebay...the things you can do at 3.30am and still i couldn't sleep. so eventually got a couple of hours sleep, just as the sun was thinking of coming up!....was going to be a long day ahead!
started off as a luscious blue sky day again today, but BBC breakfast warned of torrential rain later, but tropical temperatures on Thursday! worked at home today, office catch up day, big job started and took a few hours to complete, but well worth it in the end.
finished at 5pm, and then threw a jacket spud in the oven for an hour or so, whilst i went off in the now torrential rain, on a walk to Moorgreen Reservoir. it's about a mile walk for me from mine, and on different days it paints such different pictures. today is looked spooky, dark and intriguing. I passed a sign about it, which told how it featured in the DH Lawrences novel, Women in Love, where it's known as 'Willey Water' and where the drowning in the novel was based on an actual incident in 1892....120 years ago!
The reservoir was constructed at the end of the 18th
century to supply water to the Nottingham canal.
Today the reservoir, surrounded by trees with hills to
the north, still retains a charm that attracted
Lawrence to use the setting in his stories. It became
Nethermere in The White Peacock & Willey Water in
Women in Love
back to a perfect jacket spud, with tuna mayo (low fat obvs!) and salad! absolutely drenched through to the bone, and with hardly any sleep in the last 24 hours, i can't believe i feel so awake! this pic was the last one i took. i could barely see what i was taking, but am well pleased with the result!
