Day 9 - Providence, RI to Cape Cod, MA
Dinner after last night's blip was in the Federal Hill area of Providence. Went to Casserta's Pizzeria - meant to be the best in town. A little off the beaten track, in fact it looked straight out of the Sopranos from the outside. The woman on the counter did say "where are you from? what are you doing here?!", but it was worth it with us devouring the best pizza you could imagine (along with some red wine in plastic cups). It's finding places like this that makes holidays.
The valet boys brought around our car this morning and we were soon on the Interstate towards Cape Cod, our destination for the last three nights of our holidays. Stopped off for brunch in Sandwich, then took the scenic road along the coast, stopping in Chatham where we had huge ice creams (Purple Cow and Monster Mash flavours!). Also saw the fishing boats unload and seals following the boats into shore. It's a completely different pace here and a great contrast to the city we just came from.
After finding our lovely apartment and being greeted warmly by Celia (from St Albans!) we headed for the supermarket, seen here. HUGE! Actually bigger than huge. You can buy everything, and if they don't have it then it probably doesn't exist. The freezer section was like something out of the X-Files - Mrs DP passing through in awe... My Dad would have loved it.
Chinese takeaway and a bottle of Californian Pinot Noir for dinner. Do we have to come home?
