Fleetwood Surf

Today's the day .............................. to fly

This combination of activities done simultaneously - surfing and kite flying - is definitely not for the faint-hearted.

These kite surfers at Fleetwood on the Fylde coast north of Blackpool were pulled along by their big kites at break-neck speed. Every now and then, they would be launched 20 or so feet up into the air. They would twist round a few times and then land back on to the water - only to be dragged off again to repeat the whole manoevre somewhere else.

Son Tim has said before now that it is something that he would love to try. All I can say is that if he does - I may not be there to watch him ...........................
