It's been a long time ...

When I went to Napier, I went because it was the place to go if you wanted to experience the latest technology. They had Wang computers and word processing programmes.

We got excited when we could message each other across the booths in the computer room. We still did typing on electronic typewriters.

When I did my teacher training, new heights of technology - we had macs!!! The wee mac classic! And about 2 years later we had Internet in the house .... Dial up and brrrr beep brrrr noises and 'you've got mail'.

Now, we sit in the lounge, in Scotland, and my son sits in North Carolina, and we chat and laugh together as a family as if we were all in the same room. It's amazing!

My dad died 27 years ago - we never had a computer in the house, we only had four channels and the height of technology was the remote and ceefax! If he came back for a visit and seen his grandson as clear as day in the room 3500 miles away I think he'd die all
Over again!
