There is wonder in most everything I see
When I was little, there were things I knew for sure.
I knew my dad came home at quarter to 5.
I knew my mum would dry her hair on a Saturday night with the big hairdryer thing on.
I knew that every spring, in the hedge with the big shiny green leaves there would be a nest with little birds in it.
I have no idea what type of birds they were.... maybe Blackbirds, but that nest was always there, come spring.
There were another couple of nests I knew to look for, but that one I could see, easy.
Dad used to show me how to see Sky Larks nests in the fields behind our house. They flew so high singing their lungs out, and then would drop like a stone to the ground, and run 10 or 12 feet to their ground next. Dad was always able to find them. I see Skylarks on the runway at the airport... they have fields and fields of grass to run in.
I was stuck in traffic tonight, about 200 yards from my house, and I spotted this hedge which I knew is going to disappear soon. More bloody houses are getting built and some dumb ass builders were trying to get started just a few yards along from where I was stopped. They were trying to pull a drill out of the field, thru a part of the hedge they have already dragged out....
and yes, they were trying to reverse against the back of the field across two lanes of traffic trying to get home from work. I can see this building site is going to be a lot of fun.
