Day 4 - New Hampshire to Vermont

Found a local bar last night for a game of pool and a beer but it all was a bit 'Deliverance' if you get that reference, so after playing one game against a drunk Irish woman in a leather jacket we moved on to a more quiet restaurant for ribs and a burger.

Up earlyish, breakfast at Peaches restaurant in North Conway (pumpkin pancakes for Mrs DP, full American for moi), before driving towards Vermont along windy roads with superb colour changing foilage. Ticked off numerous covered bridges from our I-Spy list.

Stopped off in the state capital, Montpelier, and had a tour of the Capitol building with it's impressive gold dome. Felt like naughty schoolchildren sneaking in the side entrance, with hardly any security and complete freedom to walk around. It was great actually, and the 30 mins tour was good fun and informative.

Lunch at a cafe and then hit the road again towards Waterbury, where our second cultural stop was the Ben and Jerrys ice cream factory. A tour of it followed by a free scoop of chocolate ice cream - ace! Souvenirs bought in the shop of course.

Now in Burlington, Vermont, in the Willard Street Inn - another fine choice with some lovely touches, like home made flapjacks and coffee greeting us.

Only negative? It's raining. Oh well...
