Blip of Desperation

Yup. It's late in the day, and I haven't taken any photos today. Not too great out, so have to grab something from about house.

Two waterproof cameras, both bought to take out whilst kayaking. Also with a view to at least obtaining some sort of record of the day, whilst preserving whatever was the good camera at the time.

The bulky one at the back is my second ever camera, a Vivitar Cruise Cam.  I think there's still a roll of film in it. It lacks almost any kind of possible sophistication. The only adjustment is turning the flash off or on. Autofocus? Metering? Shutter speed? Aperture? All fixed. It was the best camera I had for the likes of this shot of some of our famous residents. Note the blurred soft focus and vignetting effects. These come as standard features!

The smaller one is obviously a digital type. A now old 7MP Pentax that's still going strong. Great for macro shots, but the lens shares the old film camera's attributes at some focal lengths. The sensor's definitely not DSLR quality either! Better than nothing, and it's caught those locals a few times too, as here.

Hoping to take a DSLR out a bit more on the water this year. Only an older one though!
