Day 2 of our holiday was equally fabulous! The girls had some brilliant time playing together, including at the (extremely pink) toddler keyboard. We packed everyone up and all headed in to the city. Katie was quite quickly asleep in the carrier on my back. She woke as we were outside Harrods. We had come up with a grand plan to go to Hyde Park, then the Science Museum, and a stop at Hamleys to finish the day. However, it turned out to be a glorious day, so we decided to ditch the Science Museum.

The children had a big play in one of Hyde Park's playgrounds, and a mid morning picnic sat inside part of the play fort. They were on very good form. They then spent a long time chasing round the path round the lake, chasing pigeons (Ellie), trying to get in the lake (Lyra) and running away from the pigeons (Katie). They loved watching the boats and birds through the railings on the bridge of the lake. We continued round to one of the restaurants for a yummy but slightly chaotic lunch. 3 adults, 3 highchairs at the height of the lunchtime rush in a huge restaurant! They all ate something though, as did the parents.

After lunch they were very quickly back to running round the paths. They loved it when the horses came down the bridleway beside the paths and were fascinated by the variety of roller skaters/bladers that were along the roads. They found some rather large puddles and did some serious jumping, so both Katie and Lyra spent a lot of the afternoon barefooted, running on the grass.

A quick ice cream, and it was back to more running round flowers and the lawns. They had a wonderful time amongst some daffodils and bluebells, at which point we decided to also abandon the idea of Hamleys and leave them to the running and exploring. We had time with them running through the little paths of one of the rose gardens, playing at a big marble statue. A quick drink stop, some moremore running, and it was time to head back to the trains, and Katie's second London taxi ride.

Back at their house, the children still managed to find energy for one more run outside in the garden before a (really short) bath and impressively quick and easy bedtimes for three happy but tired toddlers.
