The Torphichen Arms.
This busy coaching in stands at the eastern side of the village of Mid Calder. It dates from about 1763 taking its name from the Lord of the Manor. Passengers would take a rest here whilst the horses were changed or watered on the journey to Edinburgh from Glasgow, Ayr and Lanark. It still serves a good whisky to those who stop by. The other little building is the Toll House.
