Turn Again

This is a platter I have started turning (here is another view).

It is 24" in diameter (so it is quite large) but only about 1" thick (so it is quite shallow).

It is made from a piece of an old kitchen work suface.
I have other pieces which are about 2" thick so they will make deeper dishes but will be heavier.

There is a bit of a challenge in tuning bits of wood this big which is what I actually quite like.

I have started turning the top side and will shoot it tomorrow when I intend on insetting a ring of crushed stone.


My alternative blip was the bloddy awful parking outside the house.
There was kids football on the playing fields at the bottom of the street (it is happening more ofter since they have put in the drainage) and instead of parking at the pavillion and walking 100 yards they just abandon the cars.

21/2 hours later the police still hadn't turned up ............. there is a surprise
