Dean Castle

Day three on the West Coast - well the way home from the West Coast. We've visited Dean Castle, what was given to the people of Kilmarnock and now managed by the council. This brings the pleasant surprise of not having to pay for visiting or the very pleasant and informative guided tour.

The castle has two gorgeous tapestries, a - horrible looking - armour collection and a small but pretty music instrument collection. Definitely worth a visit. Those who want, can try on replicas of old armour. Well, Selfish and I only managed to lift a chainmail shirt - with joint forces - so looks like we will need to forget about equal opportunities here and stick to waving our embroidered hanky for the chosen knight.
