Triplets
I've tried to get the three Greys to do a pose for a blip, but to no avail - they do not like to pose together! When at last I could get them all in the same frame - I had to quickly make use of the opportunity.
These three are actually a little family: Hooligan (10yrs), in the front; Nicka (10yrs)in the middle - together they had one litter of five bitches of whom Frosty (8yrs), at the back, was one.
Hooligan is an Italian Greyhound; these are the smallest of the Greyhounds, and they grow to about knee height, or just below.
Whippets, on the other hand, are slightly taller than the Italian Greys, but in Nicka's case (she is a Whippet), she is very close in height to Hooligan and Frosty.
Aspects that might classify her as Whippet are the following: she is slightly stronger in built, has a coat that is slightly more coarse, and her head shape is not as defined as that of an Italian Grey.
The Whippets and Italian Greys are renowned for their speed and are very streamlined in appearance.
They make excellent pets, may look bony and angular, but are in fact soft, cuddlesome, playful, and love children.
They are hounds, hunters, and any mole should think twice before burrowing in a garden where there are Greys.
We adopted Hooligan and Nicka when their family relocated to Oz. We've known these dogs all of their lives, and they have settled as if it is a second home.
There was only one problem: Hooligan regarded himself to be an alpha male, and so did Deedle, the Dane. After all, it has been the Dane's home and territory for all of his life....
The Dane mostly ignores Hooligan, but there is a question of jealousy. The confrontations are usually preceded by barking at something or somebody at the gate.
Since Hooli and Nicka came to stay with us, there had been a few superficial skirmishes, but the last confrontationwas serious, quick and swift! Hospitalisation, operation and an account to fit the situation.
Hooligan has made a miraculous recovery, is his old self again.
Each has a own personality and is special in his/her own way!
