Cow Pen

Today's job was building the rails around the new porch. We've taken the original uprights of the original porch and redone the roof section. Then added more rails around the lower section.

Despite everyone saying "rails need to be upright" I decided that they need to be horizontal. Every other line on the house is horizontal after all! What's the worst that can happen?

Got myself 13 1*4*10 treated timber in, and got on to the problem.

About 2 hours later I had finished the rails - my porch now looks like a cow pen.

Best damn cow pen in the county though!

So I decided to trim my cow pen out a bit. So while the 1*4s went round the outside, I then wrapped them inside as well with some trim pieces (about 70 trims pieces). Most of the trim is now done, and I'll finish off tomorrow with this.

The end result will be painted white, but not for a couple of months as the treated timber needs to dry out first.
