Antique Plate
Dog finally is road legal, probably first time in 4 years. (Not that it needed to be legal whilst it sat in a field).
Anyway, as per normal nothing is straight forward.
For some reason Dog was always called a Dodge D150, despite the fact it's a D100. At the time this was probably never much of an issue - it's just a pickup after all in the south. No one cares.
But today it actually became a problem. The local DMV office were adamant that it should be given an Antique plate, rather than the normal plate, for two reasons - 1, looks pretty cool (seriously - that's why it took nearly an hour), 2, cars defined with an antique plate get charged less road tax (yup, you read that right, tax office trying to reduce a tax bill!)
Trouble was that the GVW (gross vehicle weight) was coming in at 5060 pounds - 60lbs over the limit for an antique plate. So the question was how they could reduce it.
When they reran the figures as a Dodge D100 (as opposed to D150) the weight dropped significantly. They then demonstrated their tried and true method to work out exactly which model in the range it was for the exact weight.
No word of a lie - it involved a list of models on a pop up menu on the lady's computer, she put her finger on the down arrow - looked away, counted to 5 and where-ever the cursor stopped would be the weight for the title and registration document. That was her tried and tested method for working out the exact weight of the vehicle.
So with the Dog categorized properly, out came a shiny new Antique plate!
As per normal, everyone (especially the lady in the DMV) loves Dog. People love the old trucks!
