Old and New Baku

The modern building in background is the Hilton. A demolished building allowed me to see through to the backs of the buildings on the next street and in the middle, hidden from view until the demolition, is the brick chimney. I'm not sure what it's used for, but it was smoking so it's clearly in use today.

More snow today and more is expected at the weekend - is there no end?!

Yesterday D fell sick - the doctor diagnosed croup, a infection of the larynx and trachea that causes noisy difficult breathing and a barking cough. We still get the odd smile, but he's clearly not very happy at the moment and is on steroid tablets for the next 3 days :(
