snow slug
Mad night last night. The snow started falling like polystyrene balls at 3 ish and just continued without fail settling into a big white blanket. I drove to work where there was a joint 40\50 birthday party for 300 in the 1884 bar.
The place was freezing when we went in but just thought it was because it had hadn`t been in use for a few days. Set up the bar, sorted out the fridges had a coffee and waited for the guests to arrive.
By 10ish there was about 100 people in the room and that was about it, the weather was just so bad the rest had stayed at home. The roads hadn`t been gritted, taxi firms had either stopped taking bookings or had just stopped altogether. The cause of the room being so cold turned out to be a major burst in the boiler room so we decided to provide pots of tea and coffee for the guests as it wasn`t going to get any warmer.
Once last orders had been called, they drifted over to the hotel and we cleared up.
I had to wait for a taxi to take me home as Chris couldn`t get the car off the estate, the snow had settled to a depth of 6 inches .
Eventually got in at 2.15 this morning, bit of a hairy drive home, the M69 was being snow-ploughed, the rest of the roads were bad, cars had been abandoned any which way. Got out of the cab on the main road and walked through to my road, eerily quite. Cup of tea and bed
Got up this morning and let the dog out and took a few pics whilst still in slippers and PJ`s...neighbour giving me strange looks....
