View from our Friday Night Place

Back Blip

Three out of four Fridays, Bb, Helen and I came here to the rather grandly-named 'Rowing Club of Belem'. It's a huge wooden-built, rustic place with a wooden platform that sits out on the Amazon (or more accurately, the Para River, which is part of the greater Amazon River system, separated from the larger part of the Amazon delta by the Ilha de Marajo). Bb and I celebrated the successful end of the CELTA course tonight with a caipiroska, and Helen with a caipirinha. I think I mentioned in my last Friday's blip that when we were here last week we spotted Michael Palin, who must be doing something on the undiscovered parts of Brazil. We always wanted to get here for the sunset, but never quite made it. We were either too late or it was too cloudy.

PS: Just noticed from the year ago thumbnail that it was a year ago today that we heard that our Rio flat purchase had come through!
