Dead woman's pass
Wow what a day. Finished by 1400 but at times both Amy and I thought we couldn't go on.
The climb is one of the hardest things Amy has done. Struggling with the lack of oxygen because of the altitude, the climb to Dead Woman's Pass was very hard work and it took the combined efforts of both of us to make sure that we made it.
It was on the way down when I thought I couldn't go on. The decent is steeper than the ascent with big steps all the way; my quads were done in and I honestly thought at points that my wobbly jelly legs might just give out. But a couple of Twix and a nut filled energy bar gave me just enough energy to walk rather than roll down the steps.
Soup again for dinner and early night. Tomorrow is supposed to be the most beautiful day as we head through the cloud forest before camping at the control point for Machu Pichu.
