Hello, Highlands!

My second favourite journey north (Not that there's many routes to choose from!) is the route we took on the third day of our roadtrip: through the Cairngorms. We planned to stay in either Wick or Thurso, so we left at the crack of dawn (so, like 8am) and eventually arrived in Wick at about 5pm. A long day of driving! It was wonderful though, I love driving through the mountains. I wish Jon could drive so that I could spend less time watching the road and more time gawking out the window!

This is the closest I've got to a real winter this year (keeping my fingers crossed for more snow!). It was freezing!! It seems as though every time we plan a road trip or to go away somewhere, the temperature drops dramatically! The wind was almost blowing me over as I took this photo. I put a lot of my weight into the wind to support myself, and was still struggling. It was unbelievable! As soon as I opened my door after I pulled up to admire the view, one of our gloves flew out the door and I had to chase it for a good while along side the highway! Not the safest game to play, but all the could think of was to save the glove! Every time I got closer to it, it would tumble away again!

I was tossing up which photo to upload for today's entry - we were lucky enough to see about 3 full rainbows on the way up north, and I managed to get some nice shots of those, but after battling the weather to get this shot, I didn't want my efforts to go unnoticed! I was frozen, my hair a mess (well, more so than usual), and I almost got blown away - but that is one stunning part of the world that I felt needed to be documented!
