Welcome guest (so far)
Woke again feeling rubbish, but rather than go back to bed once the kids were in school, I figured an hour in the garden might set me to rights. I was correct. Three hours later, and all the brambles had been wrenched from the terrace and consigned to three large heaps. We now have a wide terrace (mud and grass at the moment), stepping down via a rather nice flower bed (well, it will be nice once it has some flowers in it) to the 'lawn' (jungle).
As well as the little fella shown above, who was enjoying the afternoon sunshine (and will continue to be a welcome guest for as long as he keeps off my bulbs) I have been adopted by the garden robin, who followed me around with great interest.
Our plumber was (finally) here today, and has largely finished - including making the roof safer for windy days.
The rest of the day was a whirl of cake making - Conor requires a fleet of cakes for his birthday tomorrow...
