Ollyantambo

Day one proper of the Inca Trail. After an early start we headed out by bus to Ollyantambo. We stopped at a couple of places along the way including a small Inca settlement where about 25 women were spinning alpaca wool and I bought a woollen hat for our coming hike.

At Ollyantambo we visited the Inca ruins including a small temple of the sun. The engineering which went into the planning, designing and building of these settlements really is quite amazing especially considering when these buildings and terraces were built.

Night in the hotel tonight and then we start walking in the morning.
