Let Me Set the Stage for this....
Life has been abnormally warm here in the Bristolwood, temperature-wise, that is.
Today, all that changed. Poof! We are suddenly blessed with polar temperatures! The change....well, it is a bit hard on one's internal workings, to say the least.
I got out and shoveled snow. We only got maybe four or five inches, and it is all the fluffy, weightless powdery sort. Phooey, I was out shoveling in a summer nightgown and sweatshirt, for pity's sake! I don't mind because we live in the woods and have a tremendous Scandinavian woodstove that heats the house so well, there is no problem getting good and cold!
Since I am house-sitting, I decided to check said house this afternoon. Got into the old car, drove to the end of the driveway. I checked the mail, then went to pull out....the car would not budge. The tires refused to even spin. Son, who was with me, got out and said to turn the car off....it appeared the transmissiom fluid had sprouted a leak.
Unfortunately, the car was in the road, so Son pushed as I placed it in neutral. We were able to just get car off the road. We walked back and explained to Husband. As he was talking, I suddnly noticed a Cardinal sitting in the tree outside the window!
Quickly, I ran upstairs and grabbed the camera! Since the opportunity to EVER capture a Cardinal here is slim to none, I placed the camera in auto mode and fired away. The camera stalled and had a bit of trouble focussing because snow began to fall!
After taking the photos, I broke down and bawled about the car. Then I went out and awaited the flatbed truck to haul it away.
If I didn't know better, I would have sworn it was a Monday!!!!!
