Hold Still, Already!
I just love the woodpeckers that come to the window feeder at the side of our house. I would love to get a different type of feeder....the one we have has one way reflective covering over the plexiglass sliding doors, but the birds peck at the plexiglass from time to time and it is a real mess! The birds also get debris all over the window, making it very hard to try to photograph them from in the house.
Today, I spotted a Downy Woodpecker in the tree a few yards from our house. Great! I ran upstairs and sat down on my trusty stool with camera mounted with telephoto lens.
If that Downy saw me, he must have been chuckling to himself. Foolish human!
Between the bird rat-a-tat-tatting to open sunflowers seeds and the wind blowing things wildly about, (note the poor fellow's feathers....they are generally *picture perfect*!) particularly that skinny branch in the foreground, it was not a stellar day for photography here in the Bristolwood!
So, one windblown, hard to see, Downy Woodpecker!
