A Bientot...
This is not part of the 'Not many people know that' series that I started yesterday, but not many people know that I am going away tomorrow.
Yes, and yippeeee! Yesterday I booked a last minute trip to the French Alps for a spot of skiing.
I'm a bit of a Mandy no Mates when it comes to skiing, you'll be glad to know I do have friends, but none of them ski, so I'm heading off as a lone traveller. Now, don't panic, I won't be skiing on my own, that would be foolish - and a bit lonely, I will be with a group of about 40 like minded people in a large chalet.
I will be sharing a room.
"With a man?" I asked optimistically, when I booked. "No madam, we don't provide match making facilities."
A couple of years ago, I registered with one of those exclusive 'dating agencies.'
Rather than writing my own profile and posting it on line, I got a call from a slimy sounding woman who asked boring questions, she then wrote a totally rubbish paragraph about me that made me sound prim and proper, pah!
Three weeks later I got a phone call from a bloke, and we arranged to meet.
B-O-R-I-N-G. A week later when I hadn't heard from him, I called him to ask for feedback ... He said
"Meeting you made me realise I didn't want to go out with any woman!"
I didn't wait to ask if he'd decided to bat for the other side, or if 'd only scared him off womankind the world over.
I was asked to contact the agency with my feedback ... I told the slimy woman what I thought. She failed to locate another suitable partner for me to meet within 12 months.
What a rip off!!
That episode cost me the same as a skiing holiday. I know what I'd rather spend my money on.
And I'm going to have a technology free week. Yes, I will take my camera, but I'm not going to even try and blip while I'm on the piss piste.
