Red sky at night.
I think the when the person who was responsible for coining the word "curmudgeon" he or she may have had someone like me in mind. I do try to put a positive spin on things, but regretably, I am not always able to do so. I really don't care that much for autumn, although as a grandson of farmers and fishermen, I realise that there is a season for everything, and for new life to emerge, there should have to be some decay. That said, I find this one of the most positive times of the year. For those of you I have bored with the expression from my family, that after the 21st of December, there is a cock's stride difference in the length of the day. Now if I may explain, this of course, is a fairly small amount. Now for a heavy breed, this could be a foot, 300 mm to those of you educated in the S.I. system. I too at Blackpool College of Technology and Art, was taught to use this system, and I have to say, that for certain calculations, this is a very good system. However, old habits die hard, and inches, feet, yards and miles are still tangible to me. Back to the cock's stride, although this is a fairly small amount, it is a "step" in the right direction. Even 11 days after the winter solstice, I think that there is a slight difference in the day, hence the positive end to the 1st day of the new year. Please don't misunderstand me, there is still the small matter of January, February and even March to withstand, but even for a miserable beggar like me me, I feel that things, are definitely on the up, as this sunset, on a truly miserable rainy day in deepest, darkest Lancashire has proven to me. A very happy new year to all of you wonderful people in blipland.
Adios.
