At the top!
So many photos that were blip-worthy today.
We had an early start to give us the best chance of cramming the kilometres in and fairly early on we saw monkeys in the trees, mucking about as they jumped from branch to branch up the valley. We kept a real pace going but the height gain was making each step feel like we were lifting ten tonne weights and not just our own legs! Nevertheless, we hit Machhapuchhre Base Camp at 1pm and dumped our bags in our (bloody freezing) teeny room. Brick walls, two simple wood beds, wooden windows, freezing frigging cold! So, we scoffed some soup and then leged it up to Annapurna Base camp. Rumour is that it takes 2 hours to get there...I had a full tummy so we marched on up in 1 hour and 10 minutes!! The views were awesome, the pictures I took just don't do it justice or give any scope of how it felt. But this picture is of Dawa, Paul and Kipit at the Base Camp...Dawa and Kipit were knackered!!
We had a celeratory hot chocolate, watched some climbers play Volleyball to keep warm and pass the time before bed. Then we literally ran back down to MBC...the whole adventure was over in under two hours...a real sense of achievement. And we were also two days early, as this was due to happen on Christmas Day!! We had a good meal and got snuggled in our bags at 7pm...so cold and quite hard to breathe due to the altitude. A disturbed night's sleep...
