Once a Tree

Even though the boys are 17 and 15 now, they still want the tree up as far in advance of Christmas as possible.

Decorations are loaded is strict order with little variation in placement allowed, efforts to renew the theme are resisted fiercely and even the battered angel that Adam made in P2 still has pride of place on one of the topmost branches.

This clinging to tradition is in a way comforting for me too, next year they will be away , Jack at school in Scotland and Adam who knows where in Uni. As the tree went up they both pledged to be here next year to ensure we didn't change anything or cut corners. Some thing to be said for preserving memories.
