Galeria L'altell D'art is located above the L'altell bookshop in the centre of Banyoles.

Curated by the wonderfully talented Johanna Beekers (Joke) we are privileged to be able to enjoy exhibitions of painting, photography, visual art, sculpture and design from some of the most innovative practitioners in Catalonia and beyond.

Tonights exhibition was by Quim Curbet, a prizewinning photographer, writer and journalist, his art consists of black and white images, featuring candid shots of people and more posed studies. Not as much powerful as acutely observational his work invokes sentimental and nostalgic reactions to often seen but seldom recorded incidents and moments as well as documenting iconic images of Catalan life.

In the gallery with its stark white walls and hard surfaces photographs show up beautifully, and one wall is left unfinished with a plaster base where all the exhibitors can make a doodle, building eventually into a timeline or diary to document all the exhibitions that have taken place.
