Readings on the Purgatory of Dante...

...well here's a bizarre juxtaposition if ever I' e seen one...

Visited Winton House in East Lothian today (for work) - what a stunning place - almost like it is frozen in a bygone era. Amazingly ornate rooms, with open fireplaces, overstuffed sofa's and lots of imperious looking ancestors on display in portraits in every room.

The library was amazing, but I spotted this chap, propped up beneath Dante. Sadly I wasn't able to find out what his story is, but am assuming some sort of loving caricature of a weel kent face round the house or estate. It did make me laugh though, especially when I saw the books he is guarding.
