'Midsummer Night's Dream ' - with a twist!

Went to York today for a matinee performance - see title. Well, it was different! The cast were rock musicians/ actors and played the (small) audience in a 'stand up' fashion. It was a very energetic and highly imaginative way to tell the story with little in the way of props or costuming. Some fantastic ideas, the fairies were not seen but heard through microphones, the sound effects throughout were amazing. I don't always like my Shakespeare messed around with but I did admire the imagination and innovative nature of this one. It would be a great show for older children as an introduction to the Bard.
I'm off up to my club this evening to do a bit of prompting on the current production. First night on Monday, I will be there Thurs. Fri. and Saturday. A bit of a boring job but necessary!
