The Interior
Well, here is the interior of Dog, in a kinda arty bs way of course.
It's a custom vehicle, it would seem, and doing any reading on the Dodge D100 on the internet isn't easy to say the least. There really isn't much about them and I'm getting the impression they were quite unloved. The D100 was just a high selling, low end pickup. Trying to find anything about the "Prospector" spec is nigh on impossible. I believe it was a trim level, and the only difference I've discovered is that it might have a bigger fuel tank.
Unloved probably isn't the right word, ubiquitous would probably be better, and I'm sure that there aren't a huge amount of these left on the road. In fact after looking round the internet I'm almost sure there aren't many left. If you're in the UK - when was the last time you saw a Sierra for instance?
Driving round town today on my errands would also suggest that as pickups go, it's quite old. But I did learn something today - I do not want to paint it a matte paint as it'll look way worse than it is.
I've also said that I'm shifting between a full colour paint job (eg Rustoleum) and whether to cut, polish and lacquer Dog instead. It has a delightful red underneath its rather faded orange paint and it'd be a shame to lose it. The hood (as seen in other Blips) again is delightful (just enough paint still on it). It's only the roof that will have to be sorted and then I'm thinking about black. Right now I would kill for a circular polisher.
I've also decided that I'll probably spend the $50 for an antique plate when I register it. I figure if I'm spending $400 to get it registered with the State I might as well go the whole hog. Think the antique plate will set it apart from a scrapper vehicle being driven round, to something that's being kept long term.
