Trifle

Went to a Christmas Fair this morning with Betsy. Saw this set of bowls on a bric a brac  stall for just £1. Could not resist as we had the exact same set at home when I was growing up. 

My mum always used the big bowl when she made trifle, my favourite dessert back then. I used to think the little bowls so beautiful with their icicle-like design.  

I was filled with memories again later because Betsy and I watched the film The Secret Garden. I loved that book so much when I was a child, I read it again and again. Even today I could recognise the lines of dialogue that were taken directly from the book.  It also made me think of Little Women, The Little Princess and The Growing Summer, all of which I read over and over at around the same time.
