Making a blanket of knitted and crochet squares for Betsy for Christmas. Need 35 squares, and have made 26. Phelps loves to get involved with this stuff!

Also got some more bias binding and have pinned the edging onto Al's quilt. I also embroidered 'For Al David, Christmas 2012' at the bottom, and am planning to sew it up tomorrow. I am feeling very crafty at the moment!

There was a meltdown tonight over homework. Al? No. Betsy? No. Me? The adult? Surely not.... !

God I hate the kids homework. The school did a survey recently and though some people thought there was the right amount of homework (?) and some thought there was too much (yes!), some apparently thought they should have more. More? There isn't a kid in the place over 11, why on earth do they need homework? There are so many things you could do with your kids after school to build their confidence, give them an interest in learning, in life, the arts, science, sport, music, whatever.

There are a hundred things I could think of that would be more valuable than spending half an hour forcing a disengaged nine year old to write a piece with the vomit-inducing title 'Recipe for a Good Friend'. Talk about soppy!
