Golden Frame
As well as references to Sheffield as the Steel City, you might hear mention of the Golden Frame, which is the glorious countryside which surrounds it. This is a view from the North West edge of the city, looking down the Rivelin Valley. I had hoped to get some bird pictures today, but it was very gusty and changeable, as I think the picture shows. I saw grouse on the moors, a flock of Lapwing in the fields and Canada Geese by the reservoir, but no raptors today, and no fieldfare, redwing or crossbill which I'd hoped I might see..
I've got 2 fungus forays lined up this weekend so I'm hoping the recent colder wetter weather will produce some worthwhile finds.
Enjoy your weekend!
