A lovely day

Today started well what with it being Saturday and the house already being mainly clean and tidy and the weather too horrible to work outside (well, obviously one can work outside when the weather is cold but I chose not to). First off we had a visit from our favourite builder - the one we wish we'd met long ago so he could help rebuild our house but who has done most of the building since we've met him - he came to take a look at our barn so he could measure up to put in a new floor and some light and electric and stuff so we can build what I call "the outside storage space" so that all the boxes in my bedroom have somewhere to go, what other people in the family call "a room to have parties in" and what the youngest calls "somewhere for my drumkit" (good job the barn is big!!) It was lovely to see him again and to catch up on news from both families and look forward to having a bit of building done again.
This afternoon we had an exciting visit - a very old friend (he's not quite that old, just older than us) who we lost touch with through various turns of fate came along with his family, who are lovely, and we spent a few hours eating cake, drinking tea and coffee and catching up with quite a few years of news whilst their girls and our girls got to know each other.
And that all topped off by a lit range pumping out warmth into the house which also means me repossessing the kitchen for the winter and making yummy things like homegrown butternut squash, lightly spiced and fried in ghee....that with a few other yummy bits and bobs and some garlic sauce and mango chutney and a few beers means....happiness all round!
