Oh, ballcocks!!

This little bleeder is going to cost us a lot of money because behind the panelling in our bathroom the ballcock has failed to shut of the flow of water that has itself been silent (stream showing) and filled up the cistern to the overflow level. Now this may seem fine as the overflow will do its job. The problem is that the inlet hole does not appear to be sealed properly and some of the overflow function has been dripping into the void behind the, now ruined, panelling.

After 10 years living in this house, maybe now is time to replace the toilet and the 52 year old cistern. We could really do without this though as we have just had to spend a load of other money on the central heating and associated work.
