Summer to Autumn in one week
We were at Legoland today, the day that Beavers were celebrating 25 years of the entry level to the Scouting movement, so they all seemed to be there. I have to push myself to do these things so that our kids don't miss out but this was a struggle as it was soooo busy!
Having travelled down the night before to get an early start, we wondered why we bothered because we got caught in heavy traffic in the area and the car parks were full already so we ended up out in the overflow car park - we could surely have achieved that by travelling from home. We had carefully checked that there were no special events but had not been able to cater for the fact that this was not a Legoland but another organisation who had invited their members in their coaches and family cars.
Anyway, it is just as well we had the benefit of a two for one offer as it would have felt much more painful to pay £40 each for 3 rides, which was about all we could fit in when you factor in queuing time, walking around the site time and time to have lunch. In fairness it was 5 rides in the end because we stayed until closing time to maximise the value and got 2 rides in the last hour as most people had already gone home.
As it happens, those last rides were the most fun as we did the Dragon Ride, a rather tame roller-coaster but managed to scare the crap out of Becky, who was the one who was keen to go on it but wanted off half way round. I had not warned Alex about it in advance as I had decided it was time for him to man up a bit and I know that he would have refused to go on the ride if we had given him a clue about how fast it goes.
He absolutely loved it and now I know that I have shot myself in the foot as I will probably be required to accompany him on rides that will scare me half to death in the future.
I thought that we were going to have a repeat of the Becky upset on the last ride of the day (her choice again) which was the log flume with the ubiquitous soaking at the end. However, that time, she enjoyed the fun of getting us all wet so we ended the day on a high, especially as we had allowed half of my monthly salary to be spent in the shop slightly earlier in the day to avoid the last-minute dash.
Anyway, for the blip, although taken at Legoloand, I decided I did not want to create a risk of future flashbacks so have avoided snaps and have just gone for this dramatic splash of colour as the leaves turn red to remind us that last weekend wasn't actually summer.
