Sorry to go on about the weather but it is just unbelievable!! Today we have fat wet fog and 100% humidity. This was the view at 11am this morning - kayaking on a still and calm sea, shrouded in mists and greyness. Rather beautiful really. This is Darren the kayak man doing business - he sells kayaks and seems to do very well. Note the curious swan.
I spent a productive if sweaty morning in the polytunnel pulling out the tomatoes. We started to go a bit stir crazy so consulted accuweather who promised that around 2pm there would be glimmers of sunshine until 6pm. They lied. The weather closed in even more.
Nonetheless, we decided to risk a walk, it being National Trails Day, and chose a loop that goes around Bantry, starting off high above the town where normally you would get this astonishing view. Today we could see about two feet in front of us! Actually it was rather pleasant in a damp and foggy kind of way! We passed through the grounds of Bantry House which was full of loud young chic Italians, took tea in the orangery and then carried on towards the Sheeps Head, walking down tiny soggy boreens, passed the Lady's Well and mass rock, over a soggy field full of sparky bullocks, passed a very ancient cottage and watched by the equally ancient owner and then on towards the sea.
It's also International Vegetarian Day - have a good one fellow veggies :)
