Death of a sunflower ...

... sounds a bit like a Morrissey song title. Two huge sunflowers are drooping in the schoolyard - lovingly reared from seeds. We shall collected the seeds from them and each child will plant a couple ready for next year. We are very fortunate in having a couple of acres of ground - a soccer pitch, an area for basketball, a mini orchard and a fruit and veg garden. This year we grew lettuce, onions, spuds, and rhubarb.

The mist has gone and the wind has come in. Still none of the blue or yellow stuff. I skyped the sons in various parts of England yesterday and both had been sweltering in temperatures in the 80s. Son number 2 said snow was predicted by the end of the week in Bristol!! What! We are trying to have a family meet-up in Bradford next month - quite complicated to arrange so that's my next job.

It's traveller'sjoy's birthday today - I think there's a potluck supper and games going on at her place. I must think of something exciting to make- it will involve tomatoes.
