Haircut!

After tots this morning we called in at the hairdressers to see if they had any walk-in appointments today, which they did! So after a quick dash home to drop off the bag and swap my leggings and boots for bare legs and sandals we headed back to the salon to get Ben's hair cut. (This reminds me - I need to phone my salon to see if they've any space tomorrow!)

He sat still, watched carefully, and I nearly got a smile out of him when he noticed me sticking my tongue out at him in the mirror ;0) He looks very smart now.

Apart from the dirty great big streak across his forehead.

And the filthy hands.

I think he may have been trying to "fix" daddy's bike..... Hmm.

So he has had a bath and is all squeaky clean again now! I was hoping this might preclude him going to sleep but there doesn't appear to be any sign of that happening. I think there is going to be nothing for it but to get us dressed again and head out in the buggy! I've hoovered it as best I can for the time being, but short of cleaning it properly only time and usage is going to get the rest of the dust off.

We had a lovely time at tots this morning. Walked there, both of us, and went over the railway bridge. I have been reminded that life is not just about the destination (although it's good to know where you're going!) but it's about the journey as well. Especially with young children! We waited for two trains at the top of the railway bridge, and waved, and were waved at! That made Ben happy :) Walking up the road to where tots is held, Ben shouted "there's tots!!" and ran the rest of the way! I think he might just have been happy to be going there again! He played happily all morning, making friends properly with Rosie, eating raisins which I didn't think he liked, dressing up, running round, smiles all round! I got to chat to people I've not seen in a while, and was really excited to see that a Sling Meet has been started up in Worthing :D AND there's a natural parenting group that meets once a week as well, which we might just pop along to next week!!

I love it when a day starts off well though. It makes you feel like you will be able to cope with whatever is thrown at you. This morning Steve was up early, but not to cycle to work. He played with Ben, got him breakfast, did lots of Daddy stuff with him, and all before work. All I needed to do was focus on getting myself up and fed! It was a lovely start to the day and I HUGELY appreciated him being around this morning. Ben did too, he loves his daddy and because he got to see him this morning he was happier to give him a big cuddle and kiss and let him go to work. If he doesn't get to see much of his dad he's very reluctant to say 'bye in the morning.

Now I've got to try and get Ben dressed again and into the buggy and off to the cashpoint and then back to the hairdressers - I didn't have time earlier to get any money out so they still need paying! I do this nearly every time we go... I think they're used to me now ;0) Hopefully the sun will stay out. I got changed into my slobs thinking the weather had turned for the day: one minute it was glorious sunshine, then all of a sudden driving horizontal rain! And then almost as quickly as it started the rain stopped and the sun is out blazing again! Crazy weather. I guess I need to look up when I go out and see if there are any threatening clouds hanging around still....
