Stob Dearg and the Devils Staircase
Had a horrible night, as my sleeping bag is not very suitable for camping in cold nights. Legs are still slightly sore, shoulders are better and the headache is mostly gone. But I have decided to end my tour in Kinlochleven and my mum is kind enough to come and pick me up. I will explain tomorrow why exactly I decided to do so.
So I headed off after breaking camp to walk the last kilometer to the Kings House Hotel where I refilled my water bottles and then headed off along the West Highland Way. Along the way I noticed the first blisters forming on my heels, which is strange as my boots are relatively good and I have used them before.
So I passed by this great mountain and then turned north to climb the Devils Staircase. It was a long climb and very taxing on me, but I eventually made it. I also met quite a few other hikers on the way but most of them seemed to be only on day trips, but a few looked like they were actually doing the full West Highland Way.
The descend from the 548m high crest of the mountain was very straining on my knees, so when I arrived in Kinlochleven at around 4pm my legs were almost dead. Luckily my mum arrived soon after to pick me up.
Once we got home I nearly couldn't get up the stairs to my room, so after a shower I went straight to bed as the headache from yesterday came back.
