part route
okay so after a long nights sleep and general recovering plus unpacking I have to explain why I decided to abort my tour after only 2 days.
So the main reason was probably that I overestimated my fitness due to my lack of experience with tours like these (I have mostly done day tours so far).
Also due to my lack of experience I made my rucksack way to heavy (I think around 20 kilos) and taking stuff I wouldn't have needed. But even with the heavy rucksack, my daily distance goal was too high. So on the first day I managed to walk approx 18km through the moor and on the second day 15.5km with climbing the devils staircase. So my daily goal was to manage around 20km per day which I failed at both times. I have done a day trip before where I managed 20km plus climbing a monroe in 8 hours but with a lot less gear.
Another factor was the fact that I had a pretty bad night, as my old and cheap sleeping bag was not warm enough and let cold air in through the zip.
But overall it was a very worthwhile experience and I really enjoyed it. Will definitely try and do something like this again but better planned and with less stressful distances as my left leg still doesn't obey me fully when I tell it to move.
so the photo is of my initially planned route, but the red arrows mark where I started (east, right) and where I ended the tour (west, left) and the green arrow points to where approx my campsite was.
