Burn
Evening all,
Well, still away, and still with limited internet access, so have to be quick tonight.
We have returned from volcano night, slightly soggy, slightly singed and slightly smelly, and sadly not victorious.....again!!
Pitch 21, not a good number, too close to the sea for comfort, we know from experience the higher numbers don't do well.
We threw all our effort and will at it, 15minutes of frantic digging with three good spades and two plastic shovels...until we'd created our little sand volcano, about four foot high and four foot wide at the base.
Then the fire, two boxes of firelighters and two bags of wood later and we were ablaze, and standing back to enjoy the fruits of our and everyone elses labour.
Clearly we are in the 'enthusiastic amateur' catagory, looking along the beach when all the fires were lit, some of the beacons were like wrecker's fire calling the ships to their doom, whilst others were like funeral pyres for dead kings of ages past. ours looked more like what it was, a small mound of sand with a bit of lumber on it!
Still, we didn't go down first and lasted for an hour before the sea performed its inevitable duty.
Beach burgers and car snacks later, and we go our seperate ways, blisters on hands and happiness in our hearts, thats the sort of warm feeling i love!
