An Old Airman's Life

Again this morning, I heard the sounds of football practice as I rode past Gerald J. Ford Stadium. The name on this stadium should not be confused with Gerald Ford, the 38th President and star football player for the University of Michigan. The team is getting ready to open the season at Texas A&M on Sunday. It will be a David and Goliath game. SMU, the small private college, going against the much bigger, highly rated football program of a state school. Since I am sort of an SMU alum, I will be pulling for the David.

Yesterday was my wife's birthday. And it was also our youngest daughter's. Last night, I went with my wife to Bob's Chop house so she could have her favorite dinner - steak. I am a vegan leaning vegetarian so I had a salad with a GIANT carrot prepared like a sweet potato, lots of brown sugar and probably butter. I didn't ask. Didn't want to know. Tonight, I will be going to dinner with our daughter to Chili's, a big chain high-end hamburger house. I think they at least have pretend burgers there.

Tomorrow night, we will be having our 29th wedding anniversary party. Our anniversary is actually Sunday but I will be busy with a couple church services and a bike ride. Looking forward to being with many friends at the party.
