The Butterfly Bush....again!

This morning I arose early for a dreaded and most unfavorite job.

When we bought our little camper several years ago, I don't recall anyone telling us that one of the downsides of ownership is that one must scale a ladder and use dreadful chemicals to clean the grunge off the rubber roof!

Alas....a couple of weeks ago, during one of our deluges, I noticed water inside the aforementioned camper. That meant there probably was a breach somewhere in that blessed rubber roof.

Husband had convinced Daughter to scale the ladder a couple of days ago with her little camera to photograph sections of the roof. In looking at the photos, they thought they might have discovered the problem.

My five foot, one and a half inches went out this morning and climbed up the eight foot ladder, precariously jiggling in our (quite unlevel) gravel driveway. I worked with the bleach smelling chemical and when done, that rubber roof glistened in the sun! And, it *only* took about two hours!

I found a spot on the roof where the rubber roof was separated from the refrigerator vent. Aha! The culprit, I pray! Since daughter is so clever with decorating cakes, I convinced her to climb the ladder to recaulk the compromised area! She did, and my aching calves thanked her...bigtime!

After inhaling all those fumes, I climbed down and saw a butterfly in the bush....I thought it was the same White Admiral as yesterday, but in looking more closely, I saw that it was a Black Swallowtail! Legs aching, I was too tired to climb the stairs to fetch the D-SLR. So, I grabbed the Canon, which I had earlier placed by the front door.

This butterfly was gracious. It allowed me to hone in closely and snap before taking off. Note the bad little Japanese Beetle next to the butterfly. Harrumph! Those beetles are up to no good!

It feels so good to lie down tonight and rest my poor aching legs! The only problem is, all I seem to smell is the bleachlike chemical used today. Blech!
