Cause of A Lust for Life.....
Friday seen us load the car, Gran's Car cause ours went into the garage, and head north.
Up through Glasgow, past Loch Lomond, left at Crianlarrach, and on to Tyndrum.
Once past Tyndrum turn right, and you head to Rannoch Moor. Never was there such a beautiful desolate place. I know not what it is that attracts me to the place, but my heart seems happy there.
Si suggested camping there might be an option, but finding a place suitable might be difficult, it's very marshy. However I stunned us both by saying, "there's a nice flat area of land, on the right, just past the first of the three sisters, in that wee dookit over there".
For all I adore Glen Coe, and the moors, I only ever pass it in the car. I have never stepped foot on the hills, or run Cathy / Heathcliffe like over the moorland. What happened? Did I step back into a previous existence? Hmmm. Weird one. Suffice to stay, we didn't hang around for any other previous existence to come into being.
Once we had found Toolibelle, extracted her from one new set of friends, and then placed her with another; we headed for somewhere to spend the night.
We were in Mallaig - 50 miles north of Fort William; and the departure point for the "Bonnie Boat, which would speed you to Skye". We took the coastal route and found a beautiful little campsite - which had a private path to the beaches.
You know the beautiful white sand beaches you see in the Caribbean.... yeah, well they invented them here. But they moved them over there, cause it was warmer.
Tent up, bellies filled we walked to the beach; and even in the rain, sighed in awe at the beauty in front of us. Rum, Eigg and Muck to the West, and Skye to the North. We scrambled up dunes and discovered an identical beach at the other side. White, white sand everywhere.
We headed back to the tent, snuggled inside with a wee bottle of cider, and listened to the noise outside. The Families playing, and then cajoling sleep. The younger couples laughing as they sat and chattered. Then a slow, silence descended.
We bimbled over to the toilet block, did our essentials, watched the stars in the sky and a satelite fly past, and then scrambled into our cosy bed.
It's always fun to play "Wooo" with the Torches; isn't it?
